There are two sorts of “Hanakazura” (“Hanakazura” literary means “flowered vine”), the Kohaku sweet representing the appearance of an old stone wall with flowers of a vine symbolized by the brightness of Kohaku. One of them is “Hanakazura (with large adzuki beans)” and the other is “Hanakazura (with white pea beans)”.
The sweet large adzuki beans and light-tasted white pea beans both produced in Hokkaido were cooked and filled into Kohaku. We would recommend the assorted “Hanakazura (with large adzuki beans/white pea beans)” which you can enjoy two Kohaku sweets.
The sweet received “the Award from the Grand Master of Chado (the tea ceremony) of the Urasenke”, at the 23rd National Confectionery Exposition.
